Big boil or bump in my pubic area

Hi,

I have one big bump just about the size of pencil eraser in my pubic area next to my next to my brief mark. The bump is to the right of my penis. I burst it and it bled but it still swollen. Does this sound like herpes?

Yes indeed the first lesion can be a single lesion - it's not always the "classic" cluster of blister-like lesions. There's also that whole issue of first recognizeable symptoms vs a true brand spankin new infection part too along with prior hsv1 infection history.  Now please do not take any of what I just typed as a reason to hit the panic button and obsess about this for weeks on end - that's not why I wrote it!!  Just backing up what you talked about.

It's more likely that your symptoms are not herpes.  If they return - DO NOT POP THEM!!  If you really want to settle the issue of if it's hsv1 genitally or not you'll need a lesion culture and typing - you pop the "pimple" and you have nothing left to accurately culture if you need the peace of mind of a herpes culture.  If you need the peace of mind follow up with another type specific herpes igg blood test in a few months but really- it's more likely not to be herpes than it is to be something else - either irritation, ingrown hair, mild skin infection etc.

I went to see a GP today and he said it did not look like herpes. I asked to have STD screen done but I am going to hold off on that because the test on it for herpes is an IGM test which has already given me a false positive sometime ago. So I am little less worried but still  worried.

Medicine is such an interesting field. There are doctrors online who say that herpes always come in clusters and there those that say sometime  it may come as a single bump. Dr Rockoff says that herpes dont come singly. Terry Warren disagreed with him in one of his responses to Worrywarts like myself.I wish it were not so. I had one big bump below my penis and I squeezed it and it burts blood came out. Some doctors say blood dont come out of herpes sores other say sometimes, this area of study is so unsettled and so damn confusing. I am trying to calm myself down and I barely cant find a thing to hold onto.

I reason that my boil cannot be HSV 2 because I did a Biokit test several weeks after my last sexual intercourse act and it was negative. I reason it might be HSV 1 but know one that has ever given me oral sex has never touch in that regionof my pubic area. But with these things you never know.

I say maybe it just not herpes maybe it is a cyst, follicluIitis....

I need to travel to the usa to get herpeselect done or an accurate test.

Thanks Depressedwoman.

I really would appreciate some more discussion on this. I did 2 test late year for HSV. I did HSV test and it said HSV 1 negative using IGG and but HSV 2 positive using the IGM test. I did a follow up test using the Biokit test for HSV 2 and showed I was negative.

I am wondering if I can trust the HSV negative test using IGG. Now I saw this single bump/boil in my pubic area and I am wondering if it is related to HSV 1. I believe I am HSV 2 negative but the bump has casuesd me to wonder if the IGG test was specific test. How does one know if the test is specific?

I was given protected oral sex 5 weeks ago so but the lips of the woman who gave me oral sex did not touch the area where the bump is.

This bump or boil has casued me great concern upon my already fragile state. Also, when I burst the bump it bled, does herpes bump bleed? And I noticed a hair hole in it but there was no hair in it. Could it be herpes bump?

I dont have reliable herpes testing where I live so I have to wait untill I go to the USA for that. So in the mean time I am trying calm my nerves.

What normally comes out of herpes blister? waterey substance, blood or pus?

please assist me.

I have the same problem...I know my "bump" is foliculitis [sp], basically it's an ingrown hair. They can be very painful and sometimes they develope a 'head' just like a pimple and you can pop it and drain it yourself, however, in the past I had to have mine lanced and once I even had to have surgery to get the core out. If you are still concerned after a couple of days have your GP look at it.

P.S.: when I first developed one I thought it was an std also..I was married at the time and I was devestated thinking my hubby was cheating...turned out to be an ingrown hair>
