CHRONIC YEAST INFECTION

Hello Dr,
Please help me.Im 26 yr old lady who is suffering from chronic vaginal yeast infection since 6 months. I have tried all flucanazole tablets, suppositories etc but i get temporary relief and it comes back! I am in monogamous relation since past 9 years and since 5 months I have abstained from sex but it still comes back.i have tested for other stds and diabetes but negative. I am highly stressed as i read that it could be 1st sign of HIV in women. I have never had any encounters except with my husband who is healthy. Im unable to live my life due to fear and am nearly suicidal. I used 2 get yeast infections in past but only 1-2 in a year. but this time it is chronic. I have to pee every 1 hour and the next day my vulva becomes red and i get the curdy discharge (all this seems to start right after periods and seems to last the entire mnth till next period ) I have had positive c albicans yeast cultures. I have tried yogurt, garlic, everything!!! please please tell me whats going on wiith my body? I am very very scared

Go the homeopath route.  You have nothing else to lose at this point.  Also, continue to work with your doctor as well.  There are studies that show homeopath in conjunction with antibiotics or medical treatments will help increase healing.  I'm not sure what the combination is with yeast infections, but I read a lof of stuff about prostatitis, so there my be some literature about yeast infections.

What I mean is,certain supplements will increase the uptake and effectiveness of the medicines into the body, making them more effective.  There must be something out there on yeast infections.

A Tablespoon full of apple cider vinager a day keeps the yeast away!! It has worked for me. I read it that it kills yeast and I tried it and have not had a yeast infection since. I guess you can bathe in it also by putting in in your bath water!

I have had these recurring yeast infections and the antibiotics from the doctor only worked temporarily for it came back either after a month or two to three months. I read that Apple cider vinager kills yeast......I do one tablespoon a day and you can put the tablespoon in an 8 oz glass of water(best if water is cold) or drink some water before and do a tablespoon of apple cider vinager and then drink some more water right afterwards.  I have not had a yeast infection since I have been taking apple cider vinager....except one time after I had done it for a while and then stopped and quite a few months later I got another one but now even though some days I skip it so far I have not had anymore. I am sure from the doctor though, that it was a yeast infection and nothing else. You can bathe in it as well by pouring it into your bath water for relief if you currently have one. Also read up on the wonders of garlic......it kills bacteria ....

I hope for the best for you also. I believe I did read you can use cloves of fresh garlic as a suppository for vaginal yeast infections.. you might want to look that up also.

Just talk to your husband about your concerns.. everything will be okay.. I hope he returns home safely.

I haven't logged into my account for a month or so.. sorry for the delay. I am so thankful your husband tested negative for hiv.. that is wonderful! So, you should be much more relaxed now knowing you too are negative ;)

Well, I hope I read all these threads correctly so I can try and help. It is possible that your husband is passing the yeast infection back to you because the man can catch it from you.. it goes back and forth. You could try and get him treated for  a yeast infection also. On the other hand, you may just be an unlucky one like I am who all the sudden gets yeast infections too often. I have used prescription yeast medicine (cream and pills) and also the 7 day monistat.. nothing has worked better for me than the 3 day miconazole supositories. Yes, my infections come back but not as often now that I have learned how to manage them myself. The most important step I have taken is to make sure I keep myself clean daily and wearing 100% white cotton underwear. Washing out with very warm water when I sense a yeast infection coming on has been very relieving and has even helped me to not have to use the medicines. I know some people advise against that but what can I say? It works for me.

The creamy discharge you mention could be ovulation??

Earlier this year when my anxiety was at it's all time peak I did find myself urinating ALOT.. stress can do so many things to our bodies it's not even funny. I have learned that all too well this year. I don't know about your bladder pain or how severe it is but that may be all psycholigical, hopefully. It could also be a urinary tract infection but you would KNOW if you had that. It burns like hell when you pee if you let it get bad enough. I had one many years ago when I was a teenager. Luckily it is easily treatable and I believe prescription medicine is the only treatment.

Try your best to relax and just know there are many many women who suffer from yeast infections often. I am one of them as you know. Remember, as I said earlier on, stress can cause yeast overgrowth, so relax.. you know it's not due to hiv :) yay! At one time a doctor even tried putting me on birth control because she tried basing my recurrent yeast infections on hormones..

Most health clinics will allow you to make small payments and if you're a legal US citizen you should be able to apply for a medical card.. it will depend on you and your husband's income.

I'm not a huge fan of homeopathy myself. follow up properly on this to check for infections. it is not your yeast infections causing you to urinate all the time like this.

Have taken a course of Tindamax or Flagyl?  I don't see anything in the text above that mentions you took one of those meds, but you may want to try a course, as they are typically given for vaginal infections.  It may be worth a try.

thanks:) il try that.. but does any1 have a clue why i feel like urinating every half hour(i do not hav diabetes, been tested) my homeopath sayz its all yeast related. whenever i get this urinating sensation, the feeling is that of burning/painful stabbing in my bladder. IT DOES NOT BURN MY VULVA ETC WHEN I PEE but as i said the sensation is painful.

I know it's hard when you don't have insurance but we can only help so much on an online forum. Nothing replaces being seen, getting a physical exam as well as some basic testing when you have ongoing symptoms like this.

definitely call the health department as sunshineone suggested. If you don't have a clinic near you, they can hopefully help recommend a low cost place to be seen. Planned parenthood also charges on a sliding scale too and they can do basic testing and exams on you also.

In regards to not having the money to be seen (I totally understand that), I would suggest calling your local health department. They will charge you based on your income and if you can't afford to pay at the time of the appointment, they will still treat you and you can pay later.

If you have never been seen at your local health department, sometimes a different medical professional will present a different view point.

I experience pain in suprapubic area. when i pee, the pain/burning reduces but returns with the next urge to pee. are these symptoms of Interstitial cystitis/painful bladder? or is this yeast related??

yes, do not let  a doctor tell you that you don't need this test or that test.  A good doctor will be willing to explore all possible options with you, althought they may start with the most probable stuff, they will eventually begin whittling away by the process of elimination via testing.  A doctor who says, "I don't think, therefore I won't test" is not a good doctor.

Stay positive, homeopat does take time.  Whereas antibiotics may work within a week, homeopath may a month or two.

Hang in there.  I know what it's like to be dealing with a persistent condition that no one can get to the bottom of.  It sucks the life out of you, but you have to keep being persistent as well.

definitely go elsewhere if your provider isn't making you happy and doing what needs to be done.
