Can I take monistat without knowing for sure if I have a yeast infection?

I was wondering if I could take monistat without knowing for sure if I have a yeast infection. So I was diagnosed with a yeast infection earlier in the month and was prescribed fluconazole for it.  But a few days later I seen my partner again and we did it without protection and he thinks he has it as well. So I returned to the same doctor who prescribed the fluconazole to see if she would give me another prescription because my symptoms were still there and she said she wouldn't and that it wasn't sex related (but I didnt get the chance to tell her that my partner possibly had it too). Afterwards I bought monistat but decided to wait to use it because I was on my period but now that my period is done my symptoms have become almost non existant but I still feel like I might have it and I'm worried that having sex will trigger the symptoms again. Currently I am taking a daily homeopathic treatment to treat symptoms and prevent occurrences in the future which I think could mask the infection if i still have it. After considering all these factors would there be any risk to taking the monistat to get rid of any trace of the infection or could it possibly make it come back or worse if I don't have the infection?

Hi, yeast can be passed to the male so i think it would be best to tell your doctor this.

Ask a pharmacist since this is sold over the counter they can answer that question for free. Or do what I do call a 24 hour one that is in a different area and ask on phone do you do not need to be embarrassed.
