Can ciprofloxacin treat gonorhea

I just wanted to find out if ciprofloxacin can treat gonorhea. I had a discharge on my penis and was prescribed cipro for five days. After taking this for 2 days the discharge stopped and after finishing the course even the pain disappeared. My fear is that the infection might reoccure since im told cipro is not the best treatment for sti. Kindly advise

I 'm going to disagree with Tony's advice.

gonorrhea is resistant to most antibiotics at this point. you need to cover your bases properly and seek out proper gonorrhea testing at some point after 1 week after you finished your cipro to properly rule it out. A clearing of symptoms is not proof that you had properly treated gonorrhea, if you even ever had it at all.

did they do any testing at all when you were seen?

Cioprofloxacin does treat gonorrhea and as your symptoms cleared you can be confidant that the treatment was successful. Wait a week or so and get retested just to be 100% sure that the treatment was effective.
