Chances of transmitting HSV II

I have been in a relationship for a long time now with my gf who is HSV 2 negative, but orally HSV 1 positive. I myself acquired HSV 2 about 10 years ago and since then have been on suppressive therapy (ayclovir). The other day we were having intercourse without a condom (we always do) and I noticed what may be a very very small undetected lesion on my penis. I have never had any issues in the past 10years and am worried now. My question is what is the likelihood she may catch the virus given these factors if in fact the small bump was a lesion. Thanks for any help..

Thank you for the your response, it is greatly appreciated and a kind reminder that that is life. There are definitely worse things that can happen and to experience this stuff I guess is just an eye opener, but however you look at it its a reason to try and be more careful in the future if possible.  I guess the true testament will be to how effective the combination of her past HSV1 infection is for antibodies and the Acyclovir I currently take. I guess we also have a 1 in 4 chance that she may already have the virus and not even know, so maybe nothing with happen and we can just call it luck. Either way I will be grateful if nothing happens. I'll come come back within the next few weeks and let you know just for anyone in a similar situation. Thanks again...

Yeah it happens sometimes - an ob sneaks up on you and you don't really even know it's there until it's too late :(  Not too much you can do about it - you are already taking precautions and doing your best to help reduce the chances of transmitting the virus to your gf. We are not perfect though that doesn't help us feel any better about it when things like this happen.

Only time will tell if she contracted the virus or not. Daily suppressive therapy helps keep shedding minimal even when you do have an ob.  It's up to you two to decide if it's even worth doing any follow up blood testing as long as she is with you and doesn't have any obvious genital symptoms.  The chances of contracting the virus is higher when active symptoms are present but it's still not 100% guaranteed that it will happen.

I know - not any real answers you didn't already know but it really isn't anything more exact I can say.  Hang in there - I know it's hard when things like this happen and you'll both worry for the next couple of weeks.
