Chancroid and Kissing

I have an unusual question, and am curious as to the answer because a friend of mine (and yes this is really a friend not me) is freaking out about an STD I had never heard of called Chancroid. He went to a massage parlor and apparently got along well with the person giving the massage and they french kissed for several minutes while she gave him a handjob. No other sexual acts took place from what he says. Anyway, he was all worries about STD's so I referred him to the Dr.'s posts on this site and he was quite relieved, but then he came up with this Chancroid thing. I looked it up and it seems that A. It is rare in the U.S. (he said the woman was from China so was still worried); and B. It looks like it requires sexual contact and no just kissing. Still, it is somewhat similar to syphilis, which theoretically can be spread that way (albeit unlikely), and I wasn't sure so I figured I would check here to put his mind at ease. This is the second time I have had to do this for him because he is embarrassed, but last time there was some actual sexual acts. This time just kissing and masturbating.  Thanks for any suggestions. Best wishes,

Thank you! I assume that means I can let him know to stop worrying about it because he can't get it from kissing and a handjob? I am not sure who will be more relieved him (because he has been freaking out) or me (because I have been his sounding board for his freaking out :-)
