Doxycycline and effectiveness

Me and my partner go to the doctor and both are told we are positive for an STD. We ar both perscribed Doxy I My partner and I both start taking Doxy at the same exact time and continue to have UNPROTECTED sex. Will the Doxy get rid of the  infection. Yes or no answers please.

That doctor is an idiot.  You both should not have had any sex for 7 days while taking the meds.  I'd get retested

Thats what I thought too, until I heard from a Doctor that you could still have sex if both of you are starting the meds at the same time.

Neither one of you should be having sex if you are both diagnosed with a STI.
You should both have abstained for sex 7-10 days until the infection cleared up.
Then you should have been re-evaluated for testing of chlamydia again...to make sure it went away.
DOXY is highly efficacious against chlamydia, not ghonnorea...which usually go hand-in-hand when infected.
I suggest you see your medical provider again, get tested, and see if this is resolved prior to engaging in other sexual activities with one another.

If you had Chamydia then it should get rid of the infection.
