Doxycycline or azithromycin , which is the right choice

I was diagnosed for secondary stage syphillis, had red spots on the body and pain & discomfort on my joints & throughout my body. I went to a doctor and was given acyclovir and doxycycline ( the doctor was not sure if i had chicken pox or syphillis , although i did a blood test & tested positive for syphillis) therefore a few days  after that,i decided to go to another doctor for a second opinion and was given azithromycin 500mg to be taken once daily, he said it is a better choice than doxycycline. I did some further readings, azithromycin seems to be given more for GO & chlamydia rather than syphillis. currently, i am still taking doxycycline twice daily 100mg capsule. Should i change to azithromycin and stop the doxycycline regime, or just stay with doxycycline? Which is the right choice of drug ? By the way , the first doctor also suggested taking doxycycline & at the same time getting treated with penicillin injection daily for 1 week, will this be effective or too much at once?
Thank you

I would also go with the original doctor who tested you.

Talk to your doctor. We cannot tell you what to do cause we are not doctors. I would call your original doctor and follow his advice. Maybe you can take both.
