Doxycyline: Is it effective

After a SE Asian oral experience, I caught something. The doctor did a VDRL and the tests came back negative for anything. Syphallis, Chlamydia specificly. No word on Ghonereah. The doc perscribed Azithromycin and doxyciline. 2 weeks later...still have a milky white discharge and now discomfort in my testicles and a little swelling.

Is a VDRL effective 5 days after exposure?
What's the next medicine that should be tried? I'm going back to the doc in the morning.

Oh sorry yet again -

The VDRL probably wouldn't be accurate at 5 days, but your symptoms aren't suggestive of syphilis.

Oops sorry -

I forgot to say that the azithromycin and the doxy would certainly cure chlamydia, but might not cure gonorrhea.

The VDRL only tests for syphilis.  I think you need to make sure that you were tested for other infections.  If you were, and they were all negative, then you need to look for another cause.   You might ask your doc to look at the discharge under a microscope and see if there is any bacteria present, and also have a prostate exam done.
