Frequent Urination... Grace help???

Today I noticed that I had the urge to urinate more frequently. About every hour I had to go to the bathroom and not in small amounts, I would urinate a lot each time. The urine is almost clear with a tint of yellow. I don't have any other symptoms, no burning nothing. I'm due to get my period this Tuesday, can this have something to do with it? Also i'm on ovcon 35, any insight as to what this can be??

I had a dipstick urinalysis as well as a urinalysis done at Quest Diagnostics just to make sure along with a culture. Everything was negative and the doctor told me not to worry.

First of, scaredgrl85, I am pretty sure you're fine.  I just wanted to clarify anything if someone else reads this thread.

Urine can detect chlamydia, in fact it's about the best sample.  However, that is different from a dipstick urinalysis, or a urine culture.  That test is a NAAT test, DNA probe, etc.  Basically it looks for the DNA of the organism(s) in question.  You can also culture other organisms from urine, however some types of STDs require a different culture than what they typically do for a urine culture, for instance Trichomonas or Mycoplasma.

Second, a dipstick urinalysis cannot detect bacteria directly.  It can detect nitrates in the urine, which some bacteria cause.  It can also detect leukocyte esterase, which is created by white blood cells in your urine.  Either of these, or both, or neither, can be present in the case of a bacterial infection.  However, a  leukocyte esterase test is positive about 70% of the time you have an infection, so a negative test is in fact a reassuring sign.

Once again, scaredgrl85 especially since you had lots of clear urine, it just sounds like you were drinking a lot of fluids ( a good thing, really!).  I'm just trying to provide information in case someone else reads this thread.

I got my results back today. The urine culture and urinalysis was negative. He said it was probably just drinking too much fluids. Thanks! :)

anxiety can certainly make you want to go to the bathroom more often. In the past, this has happened to me. The mind can certainly play tricks with you. Why do you have anxiety if you don't mind me asking?

Keep your head up... my urination has subsided, I really think it was because I was drinking more. Let me know the results of your test and goodluck!

Well I know it's not an STD because I had those check out months ago.

A urine sample can detect chlamydia. My doctor said it's probably nothing and just me drinking extra fluids because the dip stick showed nothing. (no bacteria etc.)

Also, usually infection is accompanied by other side effects such as burning, discharge etc. not just frequent urination.

You need to call your doctor and go give a urine specimen.

I've read a lot of Dr. Handsfield's posts and I've never heard of frequent urination being a symptom for any STD.
