Gonnorhea two courses of antibiotics

Hi,

I'm an Australian 19 year old gay male who was tested for Gonnorhea and came back positive.

I first went to the doctors a few days after seeing a yellow discharge from my penis, and got a blood test, urine test and internal swab done. I was also prescribed a single dose of Azithromyxin as it was though I had Chlamydia.

Once I had this the symptoms stopped for 1 week, then however came back, this time a white discharge not yellow. The urine test came back negative, but the swab was positive. I was then given Doxcycline 3 times a day for 7 days. The discharge stopped and then I (think) it returned 5 days later, whilst I was still on the medication. I finished my course of antibiotics, and I don't think I'm getting any discharge however my penis still has a very mild pain maybe twice a day, it does not hurt whilst urinating either (as opposed to before)

I'm getting re-tested on Monday however through my research what has been prescribed to me, Doxcycline is not usually used to treat Gonnorhea only Chlamydia.

Maybe I could grab some help/opinions? I'd post on the "Ask a Doctor" forum, but I'm afraid I really can't afford it being a student with no job :(

I really appreciate any help anyone can give me

we don't recommend using doxy any more for gonorrhea treatment. since you've only had oral antibiotics at this point, certainly follow up with repeat gonorrhea testing any time after 1 week after last finishing antibiotics to make sure the infection was cleared properly.

Roc is given as a shot but pills is Doxy. Sounds like things are getting better.

Oh, I didn't know that, I presumed only Rocephin was reccomended to treat it, so far so good, no discharge, I even wore black underwear to be sure :D

Thanks for the reply Vance2335

Pain I would say might be mental. As long as discharge stopped that means it is probably cured. Doxy is actually the treatment normally given for Gonorrhea.

any ideas :s

I don't seem to be having any discharge, but I still get a mild pain or ache which lasts maybe half a second and can extend down to my rectum.... Probably once every 20min.
I mean it doesn't annoy me.. Could if just be a psychological thing?
