Gonorrhea positive and worried

My girlfriend and I were diagnosed with having Gonorrhea. We have been together and have been having problems for about 13 months. When I first started having problems, my doctor just kind of brushed it aside and found a low b12 level in my blood test and started me on b12 shots. Well, symptoms definitely persister, and got a lot worse, so I changed doctors and he tested me for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Chlamydia came back negative, but positive for Gonorrhea. He gave me a script for 2 Cipro 500 mg a day for 5 days and a doxy regimine too (just to be safe towards anything else that could be hiding). Well, it's been 10 days since I finished the Cipro and I'm still having problems. My testicles are still a little red and a little swollen, I'm still having a discharge(not quite as bad...maybe?), I have places that almost look like little healed scars on the head of my penis, and there is some discoloration. I have also been having vision problems, joint problems, and it kinda looks like a blister on my tonsils. I suggested to my doc today that maybe it's an antibiotic resistant strain and he told me to just wait it out because  there were no antibiotic resistant strains in Georgia. I think that I should definitely change doctors. Does anyone have any advice? Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. (PLEASE HELP!!!!)

Well, I am actually a senior in nursing school and the information I've come across (including the CDC) says that cipro is outdated. My gf is also from California, not Georgia, so she may have an antibiotic resistant strain. Its just so frustrating that the doctor is so deadset that there are no antibiotic resistant strains in Ga when there are, and I have explained to him that my gf is from CA where there are resistant strains. I guess I really just need a place to vent, I am going to make an appointment with another doc tomorrow. Thank you for your help! I really do appreciate it.

I never like suggesting different medication to Dr's just because they are trained professionals. The only thing I would do is find a trusted website like the CDC and see what they recommend for treatment and take that info with you. Since things are not getting better I would follow up with Dr as soon as you can.

I will say that I believe cipro is no longer the recommend treatment.

Yes, but its been 11 days now and things actually seem to be getting worse. Should I see another doctor and suggest Ceftrixine (spelling?) since Cipro doesn't seem to be working?

Symptoms can last as much as 2 weeks after medication is finished. As your Dr said give it a little more time and if discharge does not stop then follow back up with him.

I forgot to mention that the skin on the head of my penis seems thin, I don't really know how to describe it. It's almost sparkly like crystals...idk there's no way to realize describe it without seeing it. I hope that this is enough information, I'm a first time poster.
