Hepatitis B & C
Hi,

How is Hepatitis B & C contracted.  I understand that its mainly via exchange of bodily fluids and blood contact.  However, I have come across some news articles from 2003 stating research from one of the medical schools that has found that Hep C virus can be found on saliva.  Does this mean that Hep B & C can also be contracted via kissing?  If so what are the chances?

Also what are the symptoms of Hepatitis please?

Thanks

Regards,

Jay

Hepatitis b is found in body fluids, including saliva, but I haven't ever heard of anyone getting infected through kissing.  Hep B is transmitted by unprotected sex or sharing needles, most commonly.

Hep C is only found in blood, and its transmitted from blood-to-blood contact, like sharing needles, or blood transfusions before they started testing the blood.

We have really good hep b and c forums where you can find out more about symptoms, etc.
