Herpes or Something Else?

Does Herpes present itself as a rash in the groin?

- Realized sore area in groin when cleaning myself in shower a few days ago, but no rash at this point
- Mild itch in same area over the next few days
- A day or two later, I realized a small cut in the crease between thigh and scrotum
- Today (the next day), I realize I have a big rash on my groin.

When looking at the rash, it looks very dry/white, except there are a few wet/chafed looking spots in the middle. Almost look like that area got skinned/rug burn. Not sure if this is just a natural development or if it's a result of scratching the area.

Does this sound like herpes?

Note: I've always cleaned pretty good in this area, and recently (like two weeks) started using Gold Bond medicated powder because I sweat/itch a lot in that area when I'm in my work clothes.

Thanks for the response. I plan on getting to the dermatologist tomorrow.

One thing to point out: I'm certain the rash itself isn't just from scratching. What I was trying to say was that the raw looking part could be from scratching.

Hi, Herpes are more of a lesion with clear liquid in it, sounds like yours is from scratching. But then again its called the great imitator and can be confused with other things. Testing is the only way to know for sure.
