How did i get chlamydia?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years and we both had our first times with each other. I have never had any form of sex with anyone but him and he claims the same thing with me (i believe him). Yet i tested positive for chlamydia. Ignoring the factor of "he cheated" is there any other ways to get chlamydia? I understand chlamydia is a bacteria but i also understand it's SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED so could i have gotten infected from transitioning from anal sex to vaginal sex without washing his penis? Could the bacteria from the "back" be brought to my vagina and given me chlamydia? Could i have had sex and just not washed good enough after?

I have similar situation as you where I got tested positive for chlamydia (I believe they said it's urine, DNA), as well as BV.  My husband and I have been together for over a decade so this baffles us.  I also has suppressed immune system, had blood transfusion, and has IUD.  Oh yeah, and I have HPV too.

As I talked to my OBGYN today, she said pap smear do not test you for STD.

Never explained to me if my symptoms were from BV or chlamydia (irritation when peeing, slight abdominal pain).  I was given all antibiotic to treat both before I learned maybe I should get second test.

Told me a second test is pointless because they checked the DNA and confirmed it's chlamydia (basically, trust the test... but no one can ever say any single test is 100% correct).  But then I was negative for gonorrhea and trach so maybe it's good news.

Explained to me that couples in monogamous relationships do not asked to be tested regularly for STD because it's just too expensive for patients (seriously... you should've told me... then I would have tested it every year since I told you I have suppressed immune system, no matter how much money I pay).  And this is not done because I suspect my husband to be cheating, because I truly believe you can pick up anything from anywhere (some will argue how impossible it is to pick up STD just like that w/o sex).

Basically so matter of fact, accuse my husband of cheating instead of helping me to find alternative ways (If I was so healthy, I would've believed her more, but this is not the case) on how it could've happened (or just shut her mouth).

Confirmed I have genital warts and eyed me like I am a ****... when I looked up the information that having HPV is so common (and I have warts due to suppressed immune system).

Anyways, I am not really mad at my OBGYN regardless of the way I was treated.  I am not really doubting my husband, even if he test positive, because deep down I know he's smarter than that to ruin everything (and I can go further on explaining but feel it's not necessary here).  I just want to post this out there to let people know that chlamydia does not = to cheating.  Everyone or situation is different.  Get yourself treated and move on, and take precautions in the future to not get it again.
