Is Zithromax 100% effective?

About a week ago I found out that I had chlamydia from this guy.It was my first time ever having anything like this,I was very scared.I didn't have any symptoms at all!..the way I found out was that about 3 weeks after having sexual intercourse with that guy I was experiencing some vaginal itching, ordor, and very bad discharge.I took a vaginal home screening kit from jewel osco and it told me that I had BV.So the next day I went to the doctor and come to found out I had BV.So she gave me some medicine called Metronidazole 500 mg#14(flagyl) I took this pills twice a day for one week.I have not had any sex while I was in treatment. After treatment my doctor called me saying that my test results for chlamydia came back positive. She gave me zithromax(azithromycin) to take, two red pills I took in one single dose,After I lefted the office I experienced the worst diarrhea of my life hours later. Is zithroma 100% effective? Is my chlamydia gone?

Azithromycin causes symptoms like that. It kills all the "good bacteria" in your system, so you have issues with things like diarrhea and cramping. It should go away within a day or so. Remember to have lots of fluids. Zithromax is an effective treatment according to the CDC; however, you may have symptoms up to 3 weeks after taking the single dose. The chlamydia does take more than a day to clear up.  The bacteria is non-pathogenic after 7 to 10 days.

Zithromax is the best prescription for chlamydia... Nothing is 100%. You do want to get retested about a month after taking the meds. If your symptoms continue after a week or two see your doctor sooner.

symptoms can last for a  couple weeks even if the infection has ben cured by the meds.. again just make sure you get a follow up test. Hope you feel better =) and make sure you were protection.

Also, if you haven't already please make sur eyou get tested for all other stds.

Chlamydia, gono- 7 days post exposure
HSV- 4 months post
Syphilis- 6-8 weeks post
HIV 3 months post

The medication should take care of the infection. Sometime is can take up to 2 weeks for the body to clear the infection.
