Is a negative safe for Chlamyd/Gonn at 4 wks??Help!!

Hi,

I had an incident 6 months ago where I had unprotected sex with someone I didn't know. This was not something I wanted to happen but it did and I was freaking out for months and months. I was tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea 1 week and 4 weeks after it happened, these test came back negative but I had a bladder infection which I treated. I have been tested for herpes, syphilis, Hiv, and hepatitis at 3 months, 4 months, and 6 months and they were all negative. I have a boyfriend of years and have had sex with him since this incident occurred. It has been 6 months now since the incident and the past 2 days my boyfriend just starting complaining that he has been have testicular pain on the right side that is annoying him, he said its not super painful like a 5 out of 10. He said it doesn't hurt when we have sex. This really freaked me out, and I am wondering how accurate were my gonorrhea and chlamydia tests at 4 weeks. I didn't repeat them at 3 months and 6 months because I didn't think I needed to. What should I do?? Could I have given my boyfriend Epididymitis? Is it possible this would take 6 months to show up?? I had another urine culture at 2 months to see if I had another bladder infection and it was negative, if I had gonorrhea or chlamydia would it have shown up in this?  Please help me I am freaking out about this!!!

1 week is 100% for those. You are fine

Thanks Franny,

So 4 weeks is a 100% positive for chlam/gonn? I tested for all the other stuff at 3 months, 4 months and 6 months but I only tested for chlam/gonn at 4 weeks. Just was worried that maybe I tested to early for that or that it didn't show up yet because I read women usually don't have any symptoms. Thank you again!

There is no need to worry. You were never positive for any of the things you mentioned above. Gonorrhea can be tested as early as two days after exposure. Same for chlamydia. Gonnorhea and Chlamydia can be tested through the urine but if they had seen any presence of bacteria you would have been notified. Since all your other tests came back negative it is safe to say this issue your boyfriend is having is unrelated. Do not worry yourself to the point of insanity. If your boyfriends symptoms continue he should see his primary care physician.
