Is this an STD?

My brother has a red rash on his neck and chest and his throat is irritated but I don't think he has any lesions. His feet also get warts that come and go and he has night sweats and sometimes has hot flashes alternating with cold spells. He has terrible back pain and sciatica (which is probably a separate problem?). He has had these symptoms for about seven years now. He has two children with his wife, both were born in Mexico where his wife is from. His oldest child (they are 1 year apart) has had a blister on his lip since he was born. The second child doesn't seem to have any symptoms. My brother is convinced that he and his wife and child all have some sort of a STD but no doctor has been able to confirm that to him he told me. He asked that I try to find out what he has on the internet so am posting here for any help - I greatly appreciate it. And yes, he has been to several doctors but they just laughed at him when he said he thought his symptoms were all from a STD. He also told me that he watched a segment on Dateline or some other similar show about a mother turned chemist who also had the same symptoms as did her children and she figured out they had some sort of a STD. I have not been able to find that on the internet but does anyone know more about this or have a link to the video or story on it? I appreciate any help!!! Thank you so much!!

Hello again,

They symptoms you describe aren't consistent with any STD.  If he thinks he has an STD then why not go to a clinic and eliminate that completely by taking an STD panel of tests.

He should take a HIV, Hep B, and C, and syphilis, and herpes test.

Thank you for your help with your answers. I'm sorry but my description of his symptoms in my first post weren't quite accurate. His exact symptoms are reddened skin on the front of his neck that looks like a sunburn, intense sunlight makes his hands peel and then he gets bumps that last about 24 hours. He has had this for about 10 to 11 years and they started immediately after a sexual encounter with a woman so he thinks it must be a STD. He also feels like he has something in the back of his throat that makes him feel like he has to swallow constantly but there is nothing there.  In the morning when he wakes up he has large amounts of clear liquid that comes out of his nose. His equilibrium is off, especially when at sea fishing. And he has a noticeable decrease in semen. All of these symptoms and more all have begun after that sexual encounter so he just thinks there is no coincidence and that he has a STD even though doctors he has seen have all been totally unhelpful and literally have laughed at him. I agree JessyJames2010 that any doctor who laughs at you like that is horrible! Thank you again for any help that anyone can give or point us in the right direction.

His night sweats and hot flashes could be attributed to a coinfection that is along with Lymes disease.  Bartonella, Babesia and Mycoplasmas are infectious agents.  What are any other symptoms?

Hello

What doctors is he seeing that "they just laughed at him when he said he thought his symptoms were all from a STD".   Unbelievable.     If a doctor ever laughs at you for any reason--- see a new one.

Unless there is something he is not telling you; or an underlining reason he would think STDs --- The bottom line is that STDs are not his problem.

There are over the counter drugs for his rash.   Have him see a dermatologist and podiatrist.  Even if you find out what is causing everything, he still needs to be treated for it all.   You would save time, if you just take him to a physician.
