Meds not working? They not work for anyone else?

Anyone ever get tested positive for chlamydia, take doxycycline for 7 days, and then a 1gm dose of zithromax go back for testing and still turn out positive for chlamydia or any other std?

That night was my birthday, so i drank a ridiculous amount a liquor... stupid... i know... but what happened, happened.

Another thing that scares me is this persistent urethritis? I've read a lot of posts where some people need to take doxcy for almost a month? Isn't that kind of a lengthy period if these meds are supposed to work in a week?

I'll post back in a couple days when I get results.

I've never heard of anyone being immune to Doxy or Zithro. A 1000mg dosage of Zithro should  usually do the trick. It's obvious that you got chlamydia from your new girlfriend. What I think happened was when you guys go treated, one of you reinfected the other, either b/c you didn't wait the whole 7 days or your drinking made the antibiotic fail. (When I was getting treated, I had one beer at day 4 but thankfully it didn't effect the treatment). How much did you drink that day after the treatment?

Let's see what results you get. I highly doubt you will test positive for chlamydia.

If I were you, i'd go to a urologist and get a test for prostatitis. This is what I developed. I'm not sure if it happened b/c of my gonorrhea, or if it were other reasons. Prostatitis has the exact same symptoms as gonorrhea/chlamydia.

Keep us posted.

well, my story is a little lengthly, so I'll try to make it short...

mid december i slept with this girl, about 3-4 days later i started noticing this clear discharge... i went to get tested for everything, results were negative and i was given a dose of zithromax, however symptom persisted...

mid february got tested again, and at this point, i havn't been sleeping around with anyone... so, i go back to the doctor, he said he's going to do a urinalysis to check for any form of living bacteria... a couple days later, nothing showed up and said i have nothing to worry about that sometimes ones body has its own secretions... so fine.... but symptoms persist

i start seeing this girl in march... a couple weeks into the relationship, we had slept together... a couple weeks after that i tell her to go get tested to make sure everything is fine... a couple days later she tells me she's positive for chlamydia. we were both treated with cipro and zithro.... however, i cannot remember the length of time we waited aaand i was drinking heavily the day after... i took the meds thinking everything was fine until i'm left off to where i am today

this clear, somewhat sticky still persists to this day... it dries clear, no burning sensations, mildy present throughout the day, more so in the morning

so back to 'today', a month ago i went to the doctor, tell him my situation, i get urine tested, and bang, out comes chlamydia a couple days later, so i'm here like damn... not again. he gave me 100mg doxycycline for 7 days, taken bi-daily. when the meds were finished, i still had the discharge... this time, i have not had one drop of alcohol and abstained from sexual contact. when this round of meds were finished, i went back, told the doc the situation, he said you should be fine, yadda yadda, so he gives me 1gm dose of zithromax. again, i wait the 7 days, no alcohol, no sex, and symptom persists.    yesterday i went to the doctor to do another urinalysis, hopefully i get the results by sautrday.

one of my main concerns is that i might have something else these urine tests aren't picking up and that i might be immune to these two forms of treatment :/

Well...I was diagnosed with Gonorrhea and I took 250mg shot of Ceftriaxone and 1000mg of Zithromax. My symptoms to this day (that was 14 weeks ago) have not completely gone away. However, since then I've had 4 urine amplification tests for gonorrhea/chlamydia, which have all been negative.

What does your doc say about your situation? Is it possible that you're getting reinfected each time? Try to get the treatment and not have sex for 7 days and get retested. Reinfection is the only possible source in your part.
