My boyfriend has myterious large dry patch on his penis

I don't know what to do or what it could be and my boyfriend refuses to go to the doctor and get it checked which makes me worry even more.  About a year ago he had developed a large red, very dry patch under the head of his penis on the shaft after engaging in unprotected intercourse with another woman.  We have since gotten back together but recently have been having problems and I haven't been seeing him very often until the last few months and the red patch has returned, larger and more scaly then before and raw this time.  I don't know what it could be and have no idea if I need to go to a doctor to get checked myself.  He has no explanation, won't go to the doctor as I said and says it is preventing him from wanting to have sex.  Please help me or give me some suggestions on what it might be so that I know the right action to take.

Did he finally go to the doctor? I have the same problem and have no idea what it is. I went to the clinic and all my tests came back negative... I would like to find and answer. Seems like everyone else that has the same problem have never found a solution.

This is not STD related, he has to see a Dr. I can't give you any more info then that.
