Mycroplasma Genitalium?

I am a male. About a month ago I received unprotected oral sex from a female stripper.  2 days later I had frequent urination that eventually turned into intense burning and swollen testicles. I was treated twice with cefixime to no avail. I was also given azithromicin the first time. I eventually got a ceftriaxone injection and a 7 day dose of doxcycline of 100mg twice per day. I felt normal for a week after treatment and had sex with my wife.  Immediately after I had burning and frequent urination that eventually led to waking up with clear discharge a couple weeks later. I got another ceftriaxone shot and azithromicin dose to no avail.  I was then treated for trick and recurrent ngu with flagyl. I still don't feel better and experiencing burning urination frequently.  All of my urine, blood and cultures keep coming back negative.  What is going on?

I saw a urologist and he thinks I have prostatitis.  He said the more I stress the worse it gets.  I've started to relax and I feel much better already.  He gave me some antibiotics for prostatitis and told me to take anti-inflammatories.  Hopefully this 6 week long ordeal is almost over.

So, do you have any urine results or smear results from the urine such as WBC's seen or Leukocyte Esterase positive on the regular urine (not culture)? That would help. Also, regarding the question about resistance. If it turns out you do have M. genitalium and you are resistant you an take 10 days of moxifloxacin 400mg daily.  Also, if you are negative you could have non specific urethritis which can be caused by M.Genitalium, but also Ureaplasma  urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis, HSV, Adenovirus or Trichomonas. So other drugs you can take for them are not Azitro alone but you should take Aithro with Tinidazole or Tinidazole with doxycycline. I'm not sure of the treatment for these other organims but I think It is the same except for HSV there is no treatment. You would know if you had that because of course you would have blisters. Adenovirus isn't as common for this.
hope this helps. It sounds like if the M. genitalium is resistant the Moxifloxacin clears it up. But it is a long course of antibiotics and I would not  take it if you don't know for sure you have it. Too many antibiotics and you can get other intestinal problems. So one step at a time here ok?

There's no guarantee you will develop resistance. It is variable depending on the bacteria, whether you finish the course of antibiotics, etc. You may not have an STD. As you say you are waiting for M. genitalium results too. It is not too likely you got that  via the route you had sex. But if you do you can take the longer course of antibiotics. I doubt you are positive for it.

I have been tested for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphillis and HIV using urine and culture for the first 2 and blood for the last 2.  All negative.

I just got cultured for Genitalium the other day,  Awaiting results.

I've read that a longer course of Zithromax is more effective in treating Genitalium.  500 mg day one, and 250mg days 2-4.

I'm wondering if I'm screwed now because I've already had single doses of Zithromax 1g twice and am now resistant to Zithromax.  My only hope is that both times I was dual treated with either Cefixime and Ceftriaxione.  I've read that dual treatment helps prevent antibiotic resistance.

I'm up now for the 3rd time tonight to go to the bathroom.  I've only slept 4 hours.

Is your wife being treated as well? Because you can be reinfecting yourself if not. Just asking. Are the repeat Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), and GC and Trich tests negative besides the cultures? They should have at least one PCR/molecular type test on the market to test for M. genitalium. Other than that the other poster has a good point. BTW they usually run CT with GC but you didn't mention it so I was wondering if you were tested for it since it is the #1 STD. Yes the way you think you got it is not as likely but not impossible. The only other thing is that there are resistant bacteria out there and you could have one. But, you don't know unless they cultured one out and they didn't. I assume the culture were for STD's or were they just for urinary tract infections?

I had an ultrasound that didn't show any problems.  I also no longer have testicular pain or swelling.  At least anything major.  Occasionally I do feel some minor testicle pain.

Hi, most std,s from oral sex happen when the penis gets to the back of her throat by the tonsile and mucus membranes like a "deep throat" oral. If she did not do this, the risk for contracting std,s is really quite low risk. Cronic issues like yours could be related to epidimitus which is a bit trickly to clear up.
