PID and Chlamydia... Please Help

Hi all,
I have a quick question. Back in January of this year, I tested positive for Chlamydia, I got treated with Azithromycin (the 4 pink pills), and got retested and was cleared. I had contracted it back in late '07, probably around October. However, after treatment I noticed I still had a discharge and pain during urination. So I got retested, came back negative. Months later, I still have the discharge it comes and goes, it doesn't smell or have any odor, it's kind of yellowish at times, but it is mostly white and it's the consistency of a thick liquid (think maple syrup, but not as thick, a bit more runny) my doctor prescribed me nidagel 2 weeks ago, thinking it could be something else, but I still have the painful urination and the discharge. My question is I know you can get PID from Chlamydia that is left untreated, but if the Chlamydia has been treated, would that also clear up PID if that is what is was initally caused from? Or would you have to get separate treatment for the PID as well? Hopefully someone can help me out, as I'm a bit confused. Thanks.

I posted this in the Sexual Health Community, I think I may have posted it in the wrong section, that's why I am reposting it here.

When I did my smear it was sent off to the lab, and I got the result back in 4 weeks.

I'm 20 years old, I have one child. I can definitely ask about the vaginitis, but I will be going to see my doctor this weekend, because I can't take the pain from my bladder.

Thanks for your assistance.

Was the smear you had done looked at in the doc's office, or was it sent out?

I wonder if this is a hormonal issue.  You don't say your age, if you have kids or are on birth control pills, but there is something called atrophic vaginitis, and since things got somewhat better after your period, I wonder about hormonal things.  Atrophic vaginitis can cause dryness, discharge, etc.  I have it and can tell when I need to use my estrogen vaginally because my bladder acts up.

I'm sure its frustrating, but stay on your doctor to help figure this out.  Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water.

He has done a pelvic exam, and it said everything seems fine. I've done a Pap Smear, which came back normal, and the only thing that came back from the vaginal swab was yeast, which I had taken care of.

The main feeling is like my bladder is going to explode, I think that's the best I can describe it. When I urinate I have a heavy feeling, with a burning sensation, and the sensation of burning will linger for awhile after I have urinated, and I will still feel like I need to urinate, even though I don't have to. I'm wondering is it is something with my bladder, bigger than a UTI, because I've been checked for that as well and it was negative. But if there was something wrong with my bladder, would it show up on a regular UTI test?

Also, today the discharge has seemed to ease up a bit, I have just finished my period and it seems to be a lot drier down there, the discharge I have noticed is a lot more dry, and sticky.

Has your doctor done a pelvic exam?  He should be able to diagnose PID from that.  If he hasn't, ask him for one.

But it doesn't sound like you had chlamydia that long, and probably wouldn't have gotten PID that fast.

Have you had a swab done in the vagina and had that sent off to see what grows?  If that hasn't happened, it should be.
