Penile Discharge

Hi need some advice since I am really really confused. I am in a monogamous relationship with my GF, we have been having normal sex in the last year without any incident or symptom until 2 weeks ago.
I remember it was a day after we had sex, at that time she was fertile so I used condom but she did oral to me. I started feeling weird then a few days later in the mornings there would be Pus like coming out of my penis then the whole day I would have sticky white discharge. It is still ongoing as of this time. Is it likely that my GF is having an affair.
Fyi me and GF had tested negative for STI about a year ago before we started steadily dating.

If you have access to a NAAT test for both gonorrhea and chlamydia, then get tested first.  Otherwise, go for the shot.

Thanks will see another doc early next week. By the way after starting meds there was no more discharge and I still continued with the Doxy for 7 days. Is this a good sign of treatment. Do you think I should get another test before the shot?

NAAT is done on a swab or urine, but the swab is more sensitive.  Gonorrhea can be cultured but it is difficult to grow and often missed. You're lucky that it showed up on the gram stain (for many infected people it does not).

If I were you, I would print my test result (the one with the diplicocci) and take it to another doctor and insist on a shot of ceftriaxone (500 mg preferably, but at least 250 mg).  Your girlfriend needs treatment as well.

is NAAT test blood or penile swab test? Can't the culture also see growth of Gonorrhea? Thanks in advance.

You have gonorrhea (that's what gram negative diplococci means!).  400 mg cefixime does not always work so I would urge you to get a NAAT test in a week to make sure it's gone.  If you don't have NAAT tests where you live then you should go back to your doctor (or another doctor if necessary) immediately (i.e. today) to get a 250 mg shot of ceftriaxone, otherwise you're risking treatment failure.

The staphylococcus is irrelevant (it's just bacteria from your skin).

Went to the doctor she took a swab and the result show +3 Pus Cells and also presence of intracellular and extracellular gram (-) diplococci, I was prescribed 7day Doxy and 400mgs one time of Cefixime. No more discharge after the 2nd or 3rd day. I also requested a culture which I did before I started my meds, the results is as follows  Staphylococcus aureus (light growth), question am I clear now, I just needed a second opinion and also if my girlfriend could not have been the cause?

It can be NGU-normally just bacteria. Can be yeast, can be other bacteria. Doesn't have to be a STD.

I have noticed that you have been very active on this site for quite awhile, I am still hoping for the best but my question is have you encountered this sort of situation wherein a couple with a monogomous relationship can experience these symptoms. Pus in the morning and discharges all throughout the day. Also I have started feeling very very slight pain during urination starting yesterday. Can this be a manifestation of other infection rather than STI.

I can't say what is the best option, probably a test of the discharge to find out what bacteria it might be.

thanks for the advice. Matter of fact i already know what meds to take from my past experience but i opted to see my doc since id like to request a culture of the discharge to see what is the real reason and cause. As i have mentioned I am in a monogamous relationship but with what just happened I fear for the worst.
Am i right that by asking for a culture in the sense they will know for sure what type of bacteria or virus caused the pus or discharge. Or a specific test needs to be ordered for each type? Just a scientifc thought since i assume that lab techs can identify via microscope right or is it too old school?

Your Dr will know what exactly he/she should test for. Wait and talk to him/her.

hi am very confused and my doctor isnt making it any better. She is currebtly on vacation and would need to wait till friday to get consulted.
Actually almost a year ago when we got tested i had the same symptoms Penile Discharge and Pus. at that time i just broke up with my wife so i took all precautions and had my GF tested also, despite that we have been doing it for sometime she tested negative and no symptoms. that was April 2012.
these symptoms started about 3 weeks ago only. I still get Pus discharge in the mornings and clear discharges the whole day. I cant be sure if i am feeling any pain but I am sure of feeling uneasy and uncomfortable down there.
As far as I can remember my doctor took a slide and swabbed some discharge on the tip of my penis then i would get a result in about 15mins. The report would show amount of Pus Cells and Epithelial cells. Is this the correct test done? My doctor is an infectious disease specialist. An STD/STI Ckinic.

Hi and welcome. With the puss discharge your having you should get tested to see what it is. It could be a simple urinary track infection from mouth bacteria as this does occur. Whats good is that you dont have any burning or itching in your urethrea. Dont jump to any conclusions till you know what is causing this and i would abstain from sex till you have the results.
