Most men show signs of gonorrhea in 2-5 days but could take as long as 30 and rare cases show no sypmtoms. NGU men show symptoms 7-14 days.
Testing time is actually after 1 week...so 7 days. Your clinic probably said 10 just to be more conservative then needed. But test will be conclusive at 7 days.
What is the incubation period for oral to penile gonorrhoea trasmission? My gum clinic says if you're worried about a particular event, wait 10 days before asking for a test.
I had unprotected oral from a female sex worker about 48hrs ago, only lasted about 4/5 minutes before I climaxed in her mouth. I know im probably being paranoid and the risk is low, but ive noticed an increased frequency in needing to urinate. No pain when urinating, but what feels like an almost constant need to urinate. Ive had a couple of xmas drinking sessions over the last 4 days tho, so could be because of that.
Problem is, I go down to stay with family for xmas tomorrow, and ill be seeing my partner for the first time in 6 months while im down there (which will be 11 days after the event, and unprotected sex will be expected), so waiting 10 days is a bit awkward, particularly with proximity to xmas day and being in a different city / health board area.
Is it worth being checked as soon as (i.e. 2/3 days after event) while im on home ground? Not sure if the 10 day recommendation from my gum clinic is geared towards std's in general, or perhaps its different with a particular one like gonorrhoea where infection could occur much quicker (reason im concerned about gon is that ive read it's the biggest risk from recieving oral, along with NGU). If im infected, will signs show within 11 days?
It might be somewhat smaller, but its not zero. Its a pretty low chance to start with, but if you are concerned, just get tested. Its far easier to test than to sit and wonder and worry.
