Persistent and unusual NSU

I have had symptoms and been diagnosed with Non Specific Urethritis (NSU) for 10 weeks now.  I do not have:
Clamydia
Gonnorhoea
Syphillis or
HIV - tested for all these

In addition to the burning (not especially when urinating) - but building up from nothing in the morning till maximum late afternoon, I have also had a burning red scrotum.  The burning has subsided over time - but still an odd feeling coinciding with the build up of the burning in urethra.  Also as symtoms build through the day,I am also convinced that a burning builds mildly around anus.

I have been treated with
1g Aziithromycin - but had sex twice with untreated wife - though with condom and little foreplay / no oral

Then both myself and wife with
Azithromycin (1g) and metronidazole (course) (fully compliant no sex)

no sex inbetween until
Myself
Doxycycline course (fully compliant no sex)

Still symptomatic but cleared of infection by microscopy
Sex once with condom and little foreplay / no oral

Still symptomatic - and borderline infection signs by microscopy
Myself
Week course of Azithromycin (fully compliant - no sex)

10 weeks after first symptom still have symptoms  - clear discharge, stinging building up coincident with discomfort and redness of scrotum and burning anus.

I believe after all these meds and tests it can only be caused by Adenovirus or Herpes simplex - but consultant at Gum says not Herpes Simplex and hasnt mentioned adeno virus.

Im at my wits end - could this go on and on forever? - Could I still pass something to my wife if we have sex - which Ive been refraining from?  GUM say next step is to write off STI possibility and refer to  urology at hospital..Im not convinced - symptoms started 2.5 weeks after unprotected oral and vaginal intercourse with stranger.

If adenovirus, whats the prognosis.  Why doesnt any doctor know what red ball is about?
Could mycoplasma survive the antibiotic onslaught I have been does with?

Were you tested for trick?? Honestly you've been on a lot of meds I think the Gums center is correct in saying you should move to an urologist. At this point you can' continue to take medications as your body will grow immune to them which with cause resistance if you need those meds for something else.

And if you weren't test for Trick then get tested for that and if that is neg. then move on to a urologist..
