Persisting Gonnorhea?

I was diagnosed with Rectal Gonorrhea (no Chlamydia) and got treatment with a one time dose of Cefixime (suprax) and Azithromycin. Seven days later, I now have a bit of a persisting rectal itch and also a sensitivity to touch/press on the right groin/pelvic joint area, and mild pain when urinating. Is this just a reaction of the infection being fought off, or is there something else that I should consider?

Thanks. D

I'd stop using the polysporin on your anal area. it's not likely this is a bacterial infection going on and it's very irritating to our sensitive genital/anal skin. you don't want to end up with blisters on your butt right?

odds are this is a fungal infection going on or just plain ole irritation. Pick up tucks pads and use them as a compress in between your buttocks for 10 minutes at a time ( do the duck walk trying to keep your butt cheeks that tight to hold in the pad for entertainment purposes....he he he ).  ok to buy generic too and save money!

Thanks Jessy, yeah had the urine sample test and it was all clear for STDs. The anal itch seems to be the main issue - I'm using some Polysporin (antibiotic/anti-fungal lotion) to see if that settles things down. I will go get retested for the rectal Gonn. again incase its recurred. Fingers crossed it hasn't.

Hi

The only symptom you describe that raises a slight concern is the mild pain when urinating.  I hope you were tested via urine for STDs (gonorrhea, NGU, chlamydia).   The other symptoms don't sound too alarming ---if they don't go away in the next 3 days, go and see a physican.
