Question

Quick Questions:

1. If a RPR is ordered would they use a VDRL to confirm results? I thought I saw next to the RPR test (VDRL if RPR Positive)
2. My previous RPR was 1:1 and my FTA-ABS was negative.

3. Is FTA-ABS the "Gold Standard" and positive RPR's and VDRL's are meaningless?

My GP is so...conspirancy theory. He told me this was in my head or was an std. He ordered the RPR and gave me Flomax to lesson the frequent urination and anaprox for the swelling...I know he's gonna come back and tell me I have Syphilis. Here's a good question...if he tells me I have it and I test negative for the FTA-ABS can I tell him to go jump in the lake?

1.  Some people with false positive tet results have them repeatedly, others do not,
2.  I cannot explain to why the tests that were ordered were ordered.

You do not have syphilis.  EWH

You are way over thinking this...read again the last line from Dr.Hook.
