Rash on penis

I have developed a rash on my penis approx 6-7 weeks ago. it is located on my shaft on the right side and has an almost tickling feeling in the area.  Some times it is barely noticable but other times extremely red.  the skin  almost feels lilke dry when it rubs against my scrotum and goves a small uncomfortable feeling.  I was traveling in asia and received oral sex from a prostitute.  I came back and started developing this rash and a pain that almsot seemed internal where the rash is, I went to my doctor who said it was fungal and prescirbed ketzancole and applied it for two weeks with no results.  He then prescirbed nystatin for two weeks and again no results.  I was tested for std's 10 days after I got back.  I came back april 16 and was tested on april 25.  All tests came back negative.  I went to a urologist two weeks ago who precribed 2 weeks of cipro along wiht applying lotramin ultra.  I still have had no relief.  The rash can look almost look shiny at times.  My first thought was it was herpes but there was no blistering.  I have also experienced intermittent pelvic pains.  I was tested again for herpes on may 24  as the rash has gotten more irritating.  I am awating results.  the skin looks shiny and there looks to be striations in the skin when stretched. Also I experienced what seemed lilke really dry skin in the buttocks and inner thigh area.
would a herpes rash last this long? what else could it be?  The urologist told me it wasnt herpes from lookinng at it and said it was ok to have sex with my girlfriend, we have had sex and has not complained of any discomfort.

would cipro clear somethign like this up, Im really getting nervous that this rash will not go away.  The urologist told me my PSA came back normal.

please advise on what my next step should be?

would receiving oral sex cause such a rash? I have an appointment with the dermatologist tomorrow.

I did have prostitus last year, that is why they tested my PSA levels.  Im just wondering if its some type of other std that i am not aware of, but I will try the eucerin or aquaphor.  Could it be coincidence that this happened right after I got back from asia.  Could this be something that could be contracted from receiving unprotected oral sex.

I have read horror stories that people battle this for a long time on these posts

I thank you again for your feedback.  I think I will still make an appointment with the dermatologist

at your age, usually we diagnose prostatitis by a manual exam of the prostate more so than checking psa levels. just a fyi.

aquaphor or even eucerin cream. anything that is mild and will moisturize irritated skin. just avoid topical steroids unless told to use them by a doctor. they can thin the skin over time and cause more troubles!

rashes can last for months and months depending on the cause :(  At this point you've treated and treated for fungus hence why I suggested perhaps it's time to just treat for irritated skin.

Thank you fro responding so quickly.  I received my results yesterday from the doctor that it was not herpes, my PSA results came back normal as well, so that was a huge relief.  I will look to see if i can find the aquaphor that you had mentioned. Anything to help relieve the discomfort.

I think I forgot to mention that I also had some pain what seems to be the lymph node area and the buttock area on the same side as the rash, is that anything to be concerned about?

I try not to worry about it, but this has been going on for almost 7 weeks, is it normal for a rash to take this long to clear up?

Thank you

herpes won't stick around this long relatively unchanged. no reason to suspect herpes as a cause.

at this point, a dermatologist would probably be a good next step. meanwhile, apply a good moisturizing cream like aquaphor to the dry skin areas and the rash and see if that helps it get better. At this point it might just be dry, irritated skin and not still a fungal infection.
