Red bumps on thighs/groin..

I've had these red bumps on my thighs and a couple on my groin area for awhile now and they don't seem to be going away..
I've actually seen two different doctors about it and they told me two different things.
One told me that it's possibly HPV, and she was applying acid on them which wasn't too fun and the other one told me it was something like moluscom?
They're very small and almost look like shaving bumps and itch at times.
A weird thing I noticed too is when I rub them lightly instead of scratching since you know, that's kind of bad to do, they start to hurt.
They also seem to either grow in amount or size when I skip a shower for a day.
I'm just very confused and would love some information.. thanks ahead of time.

The thing is I don't have a job or insurance so I'm very limited on my options.
I looked up molluscum on Yahoo images and that doesn't look anything like the bumps I have.

Has anyone biopsied these spots?  Cultured them?  It doesn't sound like HPV, though molluscum might be a possibility.

It might also be a mild staph infection, as well.
