Forty years ago, I developed a skin ulcer on the head of my penis due to being treated with tetracycline. We stopped the tetracycline, used a different antibiotic (I think it was erythromycin) and the skin lesion healed until, a week later, my penis was back to a normal state. I was told that the tetracycline had eliminated normal skin bacteria that suppresses the cause of the lesion, in this case, Candida. Since that time, I have not used tetracycline and I have not experienced the skin lesion. My question: Is it possible all these years later for me to transmit Candida to a female through sex? Thank you.
