STDs to worry about

Hi Doctor,

My question is about the possibilities of STD's/HIV via unprotected Oral Sex.

I received oral from a female of unknown status. I test 21 days after the event for chlamydia, Ghonorea, and HIV and were all negative. Then at 35 days I test for both HSV 1 and 2, everything was negative. How confortable should I be with my results?

Also I was taking some over the counter medication for frequent urination problems when I took the Chlamydia and Ghonorea test, would this affect the test?

Yes you should put the STD behind you. Might want to follow up with the uriologist though.

so you think I should put this behind me? It could just be that I have a bladder issue.

Thanks for your help

Yes it is. Flomax would not interfer with any STD tests you took.

No, I am sorry if I confused you. I never had urintation urgency before the oral sex. I went to a urologist and he did some tests but only prescribed flomax. Since I test neg after 21 days I hope that is good engouh to rule out the stds.

But you already said you were having urination problems before the oral sex right?

I just worry because I have urgency to urinate more often, but like I said I did test negative for ghnorea at 21 days post exposure.

Chlamydia is not a concern via oral sex. I would say that you are good with your negative testes and no symptoms.

The only sympton I have is frequent urination but no pain or burning. I did test for chlamydia though like I said. The medicince was AZO standard, but I only took like 3 dozes.

Not the Dr's sit ebut can help you. Well from oral sex you can get gonorrhea, NGU, herpes and syphilis. Syphilis is rare and herpes is not commonly passed receiving oral sex. Gonorrhea and NGU are the most common STD's get get via oral sex and gonorrhea most likely would show symptoms and NGU would show symptoms. Test for gonorrhea very reliable. HSV tests would be too soon but it really is not a major concern.

I don't know if the medication would have any effect on the test. Depends on what medication it was. It might have even killed gonorrhea or NGU if you had gotten it.

The Dr's on this site only recommend testing when symptoms show. No symptoms no real worries.
