Stds easy to catch? 10 weeks form most recent sexual contact

What i dont understand and im hoping that someone can clear this up for me is with stds--- are they very easy to catch?
From what ive read on some sites on the internet is that some are easy to catch but i jsut wanna know like if something like herpes--- if there are no signs of it in some one ive hada sexual encounter with does that mean there is still a good chance of beign infected? from what i remember there hasnt rly ever been and rash of sore on anyone lips or private areas.
The only real threat of infetion at least recently was when i recieved head once and ejaculated in her mouth. and when i ate a girl out and got head form a different person. now two those two i dot know what there status was and i met them through the internet so i dont know if they have sexual encounters a lot. i got test for hiv at 9 weeks negative and now im more worried about if i have contrated and other stds that are permenat. so if i had something like genital warts, herpes or any other permenant std (any std that cant be cured) A) would have any symptoms of them have shown by now if the last sexual encounter ive had was around 10 weeks from today? and B) is oral transmition of an std very easy to do if there arent any sores or rashes that were visiable?
Thank you for taking your time to answer me this question.  P.S please no one bug me about getting another test for Hiv i am aware of the 12 weeks conclusive so im jsut worried about all the other stds, not hiv.

One more thing to add...it doesn't matter how much you try to assess the risk.  The point is, the risk is there whether it is high or low.  So, better to get tested and know your status than trying to evaluate the risk.

Oral is the only one that is generally low risk.  Unprotected vaginal, and anal should both be considered high risk.  You cannot tell if someone has an std by looking a them right?  And most people either do not know they have one or will not mention it.

How about this?  Stop the "what ifs".  Go get tested.  Obviously this is bothering you quite a bit.  Tell your girlfriend that you care for her and want to make sure that you have not brought anything into this relationship (or her for that matter).  Hey, make it a date.  Suggest you do it together so you both can relax and continue the relationship knowing for sure that you are both std free.  Make sure she knows it is not that you don't trust her but it is not uncommon for people to have an std for an extended period of time and not know it.  Refer her to this site or another if you must.  But get yourself some peace of mind.  You are not going to be 100% sure until you get tested.

Ejaculation has nothing to do with it whatsoever.  There is fluid that can come out of the penis during sex before ejaculation.

You are worried about a low risk encounter that happened 6 months ago?  And you have no symptoms?  At this point all the stress you are putting yourself through about this situation is unnecessary.  Consider yourself std free.

You really should be having protected oral sex unless it's a regular partner who's std status you are aware of.

www.ashastd.org has terrific, accurate and up to date info on std's for good reading.

Yes, the risk is less than 5% chance with only unprotected oral sex.

so jsut to clear sum up everything you have said your basically saying stds are hard to get from jsut oral sex? and that odds are i probably didnt catch anything from having oral sex?
and yes ik i got worried about having hiv and than i read about the other stds and i really cant belive that stds are this common. i always figured you caught it if u really have a lot of unprotected sex. so yes i think im going to use protection even with oral sex now.

Oral std's are not easy to get.  It would certainly be easier to get an std genitally from oral sex if one was present at the time depending on how long the exposure is, but it is still pretty rare.

You would not necessarily be showing symptoms.  Some people are asymptomatic to std's.  They have them, can pass them to sexual partners, but they do not know it.  This is because they either do not have symptoms or the symptoms are so mild, they are passed off as an annoyance.  It happens in women more than it does in men.

In this day and age...assume all unprotected sex is a risk for getting std's.  Now, less than a few minutes of exposure may not do it (it takes prolonged exposure), but why take the chance?  As much as I have been through, I know i will not worry excessively about oral sex, but no glove, no love as they say.
