Trich question

In October, I was diagnosed with Trich.  I went to my primary care doc for a pap smear and she told me I had a strawberry cervix which indicated Trichomoniasis.  She did not do a culture for trich, just diagnosed it based on me having a strawberry cervix.  I did a course of 1 day of the antibiotic metronidazole.  I have been in a monogamous relationship with my husband for 10 years.

I've read a lot about it and I realize it could have been asymptomatic for a long time, but I'm wondering if she misdiagnosed me.

Thanks for the input!

Hi Elle9473,
Strawberry cervix isn't a good way to diagnose Trichomonas, it is only 10% accurate. Metronidazole is the right drug for Trichomonas but you may not have needed it. If you have any more problems see another physician who will actually do diagnostic tests and/or culture depending on the problem.
No need to worry about this.

It's unfortunate that no proper testing was done :(  Nothing you can really do not since you already treated it.

no, you haven't had trich for over 10 years and are just now showing symptoms either.
