Unknown STD

Hello. About 7 weeks ago I had unprotected oral sex with a prostitute for like 2 minutes.  The very next day I felt something like a very weak pain when urinating. For the next few days it seemed like I am urinating more often than usual and every time there was this feeling, like a weak pain or just irritatian at the top of my penis when urinating. There was no discharge from my penis at the mornings or at any time. Just from time to time I felt unpleasant smell from it even with taking a shower every day. After like 10 days my throat became very sore and inflaminated for 2 days and then it was better, but still sore, nothing else, no fever, no running nose or anything. My mouth isn't sore only where the throat begins, it's barely visible its red and sore. 2 weeks after exposure I visited urologist and he told me to test my urine and semen but perscribed me antibiotics from the class azithromycin dihydrate and also Tinidazole. I made the tests, gave semen and urine and took the antibiotics as perscribed. No effect. My urine came back clear, and streptococcus bacteria was found in my semen. I came back to the urologist and showed him the results and he perscribed Cifran - ciprofloxacin. I took that for 10 days as perscribed. During the treatment my pain during urinating almost disappeared, appearing only rarely, but my throat stayed sore. Now 6 and 1/2 weeks post exposure I still have this weak pain while urinating and still sore throat for like now 3-4 weeks. I tested for HIV yesterday and it was negative. Please give me some reasonable advice and I don't want to destroy my liver and kindeys with any more useless antibiotics. Thank you.

If you got HIV 7 weeks ago, you wouldn't be sick enough to have symptoms from it.  Its not HIV that is causing these symptoms.  And remember that oral sex can't transmit HIV.

Good luck with the new tests.

I just found out that I have made a mistake. It's not streptococcus, but staphylococcus... the new doctor that I went to thinks that my throat problem probably isn't connected to my urinary problem. I am getting a throat culture done tomorrow and semen examination again. He thinks I might have developed urethritis that has turned into a mild prostatitis. I am also anxious that this 4-weeks-sore throat might be a HIV symptom, although my 6 weeks post unprotected oral sex exposure test was negative. I would appreciate it if you let me know what you think about all that..

Yes, that's what that means.  You don't need another doctor.  Just give your doctor a call and say that you are still sick.  Maybe he needs to try a different medication.

Hello, yes they did. It says - Sensitive to Ciprofloxacin, Clindamycin, Erythroimcin, Gentamicin, Oxacillin, Penicillin, Tetracycline, Trimethoprim / sulfa. Does that mean that those antibiotics will be best to use against this bacteria? Because seems like that Ciprofloxacin didn't help me. I think I am going to another doctor tommorow..

When they did the test to find the strep, did they do a sensitivity test to see what meds would work best?

Most strep infections are treated with penicillin or amoxicillan, so you might need one of those.

Follow up with your doctor since your symptoms are lingering.  If they do another test, ask them to do a sensitivity test to see what meds work best.  You might also need a throat culture.
