I disagree - I have been suffering from small white spots (enlarged tastebuds) for 2 months straight since engaging in unprotected oral sex with a stranger (symptoms began 1 week later). The taste buds are painful and last about 10 days before soothing. Immediately after a new taste bud will start to swell. This is definitely an STI (no history before incident). I'm assuming that either;
1)I have been sexually infected with a virus causing "lie/lye bumps" - possibly a HPV strain (but HPV symptoms usually take much longer to appear) or HSV (but HSV symptoms wouldn't persist for so long/ulcers would be on the lips). Is this an unknown virus? Current medical literature states that persistent lie bumps may be caused by an unknown virus.

2) I was infected by a virus (symptomless) that has triggered an autoimmune response against my tastebuds?

No STD is a likely cause of "small white spots on the tongue". See your doctor about it.
