It might, but you should retest in a month to see if you still have it.

If you only think you have it, don't take the meds and get tested, as taking meds you don't need it what contributes to resistance, and we are already very limited in the meds that cure gonorrhea.

London gave you good advice, but if this is gonorrhea, you shouldn't test for a month.  The testing can pick up on some dead gonorrhea DNA, thereby giving you a false positive.

But absolutely - don't have sex for 7 days, or for however long you are on the meds for.  That's really important because you might end up re-infected.

Gonorrhoea can be treated with the sulphamethoxazole and trimethoprim combination you describe. Most likely the discharge you experienced is the infection clearing and you can't expect all symptoms to clear overnight in any case. Discharge should have stopped within two days. Don't have sex with anyone for 7 days. Go back in a week an take another test to make sure the infection is cleared. If it hasn't you will receive a intramuscular shot of ceftriaxone which WILL absolutely get rid of gonorrhoea.

You should call your doc and let them know what is going on, and they can decide if they want to do more testing, or change your medications.

If it is gonorrhea, bactrim isn't the preferred treatment, so be sure and ask about that.
