can trichomonas go undetected with an STD test

My partner and I were both tested for STD's back in December of 2010 with negative results. Last Friday I went in for my yearly PAP test and the results indicated that I had trichomonas. Is this possible if both partners have not been with any other partner? Can trichomonas be dormant in the human body and not be detected by these tests? What is the main source of this parasite? Does the body create this parasite?

Anxiously waiting for your response.

Thanks.

it's very hard to detect in males. your partner should also be treated regardless of his test results.

you can get trich from non-sexual means but the odds of that occurring are very, very low.

Hello

TRICH can go undeted with an STD test.  and Yes, its possible if both partners have not been with any other partner.   It harder to detect in males.  The source of the parasite is getting it from an infected person, I've seen reports of getting it from baths' towels but usually its from sex with an infected person.  The body does NOT create this parasite.
