cold sores/canker sores and oral sex

Hi i recently had a one night stand and i am concerned with my health and the health of the person i was with. for starters i have just recovered from a cold sore and in fact two hours prior to my sexual encounter i took my last valtrex pill.  i dont have genital herpes but i noticed a early symptoms of a cold sores and since it had been going around i decided to get medication to prevent it from developing and it never fully developed, my skin never broke.  Unfortunately after my one night stand i looked in the mirror and saw that i had a canker sore on inside my lip.  i performed oral sex to a man and although i tried to wipe the pre-*** off the penis before i performed oral sex i still tasted a little in my mouth but spat out IMMEDIATELY.  I also noticed that i had a sore throat but i am not coughing blood or anything.  my concern to myself is what the risk of getting an std (especially HIV) through the canker sore. it was not torn or oozing, its still intact but i am still afraid.  also of the fact that my throat had been a little sore.  my other concern is for the person i was with. i didnt notice the canker sore while we were together and the cold sore never showed.  what are the risk for both of us.  i dont know anything about the person i was with so i am a very paranoid about the encounter.

Things you can get from oral sex...gonorrhea, herpes and syphilis. Gonorrhea doesn't really show symptoms and you already have herpes and syphilis shows symptoms on average in about 21 days. Which would be a sore.

As for the other person he could get all 3 above and NGU also. It sounds like he is more at risk for herpes since you had a sore during it. Not guaranteed he would get it but more likely.

As for HIV, it is not transmitted via oral sex. For more HIV questions please post in the HIV community, the link is at the top of the page. For Hepres they also have a community dedicted for that. All other STD's keep asking questions here.
