is MULLUSCOM curable???

is mulluscom curable..i have read in some places that nothing cures it...and then in some places i have read that your body will get rid of it naturally. I went to the doctor and i was prescribed Aldara...and it is supposed to make it go away...but is it for good???? I am confused...will it come back?? and can i spread it to other people after the bumps are gone?

I was prescribed Aldara and had to go every three weeks to have the spots frozen.  It took about 1 year to go away with treatment.  Left untreated it could take as long as two years.  Every case is different though.   I was lead to believe that although it gets into your DNA, once the bumps are gone you cannot transmit the virus to others.  My child also contracted the virus many years after I had it.  According to the pediatrician it is pretty rampant among little ones and goes away on its on- although we have decided to take drastic measures to eliminate it.  Good luck.  It is really embarrassing and stressful to have so I feel for you :(  Been there!

if you do nothing eventually it will go away. I don't recommend going that route though because you risk spreading it to more areas of your body and to others.  Aldara sometimes helps to get rid of it too. If that doesn't work then see a dermatologist about having them removed.

www.ashastd.org has info on molluscum for more info.
