looks like I might have something

A quick note about my STD history before I begin. I have never been diagnosed with an STD, but my ex-wife showed some symptoms (dysplasia) during pregnancy that the doctor thought might be due to HPV. Long story short, neither my ex-wife or I ever were tested to confirm the truth of our exposure to the virus. Actually, a few times a year I will see a few flesh colored bumps on the shaft of my penis that are painless and can be scratched off. This is probably HPV, but it happens rarely and I might see only one or two. I thought there would be more during an outbreak.

I always have protected sex, but in the past few years there was one moment of weakness and one broken condomn (fixed that in seconds)...nothing out of the ordinary recently. A few months ago I developed a pinkish spot underneath my penis just under the head. At first it was painless, but then I noticed if I stressed the area by masturbating that the skin would become dry and cracked, but then this would go away. I'm not the expert, but it sounded like how I have heard balanitis described. I ended up at the doctor and was given clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate cream to see if it would clear up. This helped, but it never went away completely. Then I begin to have a new kind of rash where my skin would turn pink and burn and be uncomfortable. This spread to my testicles and inner legs. I stopped using the clotrimazole and experimented (maybe unwise) with some other topical treatments (as well as practicing extreme cleanliness). My savior appeared to be a Lamisil AT cream. Everything seemed to go away, and I used the cream long after the symptoms were gone to make sure any fungus would be killed. I still had a hard to describe mark where this all started, but all appeared to be good. I should mention that this all lasted several weeks.

Maybe a week or two went by and I begin to notice redness on the underside of my penis at the opening of the urethra. I believe this is called the meatus? There was and is no pain when touching or urinated, but the redness has increased and even spread a little bit. The worse part is that the skin on this area looks very wrinkled or folded or layered and my urethral opening has begun to enlarge downward. It is easy to see where the opening has increased at the base because it is at a bit of an angle from the natural opening. I suspect the opening has become larger because of masturbation of the irritated area (although I feel no pain and didn't even know it was there for quite some time). Also, I still have no difficulty urinating....no pain or blockage of the stream.

I do have an appointment with my doctor, but I have to wait a bit and was hoping to get some light shed on this. This issue has now persisted for a few weeks. Herpes? HPV? This sucks...lol. I also uploaded a picture, but it was hard to get the focus correct at such a close angle. It doesn't look so bad in the picture, but trust me it looks worse in person. Well, I think that is it. Thank you for reading this long post. I have posted a picture of this on a free image hosting site. Once, you click on the link you have to wait a few seconds before the file is available for download. Here it is:

Thank you!

I see, the first two posts are from when the website went down. It must have taken them but given no confirmation. My apologies, but it was unintentional.

3rd post? Last night when I tried to post this my browser just hung and did nothing for several minutes. I then tried to open some other links from this site and received a message the site was down for maintenance. I waited, and posted in the morning. I just discovered this site and have never posted before. In fact, I am an experienced forum user and dislike double-posters (or triple) myself. I'm going to take a look around for the other posts. If posts are consecutive, it must have been due to the site problems last night. If not, you are mistaking someone else's post. I can't imagine there being another one like this one, lol. Guess I'll take a look now. Thanks.

This is the 3rd post of the same question and you already got some good advice the first time.  You have an appointment to see a dr. so you will get your best answer from that appointment.   Try to relax, it really doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about.
