was my testing sufficent?

I had a risky encounter in Las Vegas about 4 months ago.  I got a blood test(RPR) to look for syphilis.  I didnt notice and chancres or anything but wanted to get tested to be 100% sure.  I seem to have some minor redness right under the head of my penis, the area is not raised or anything, just a slightly darker color then the rest of my penis, and it aches occasionally.  My question is:  Would a blood test 8 weeks after the incident be conclusive in telling me if I had caught anything or do I need another test?

Well 4 months has passed you can re-check syphilis if you like, but I do not see it necessary. I bet you would have noticed it, and it's quite rare also. If your still feel that some symptoms keep bothering you later, you may run some other tests, so that they'll check you urine too. It may be some other bacteria or virus that causes your symptoms. Myself, I have had symptoms for over 6 months already, but all STD tests have been negative so far (made at post 3 months). And all I had was oral sex, which accoring to the docs of this forum is low risk. But obviously not no risk. Take care.

I was tested for HIV, HEP b & c @ 12 weeks, all negative.  I showed my primary care phy. the redness on my penis he said it wasnt anything i should be worried about.  Its not so much the redness that bothers me its the slight pain that goes along with it that makes me worry, and i've heard that syphilis sometimes doesnt show up for 12 weeks on blood tests.  thanks alot for the response....D

For syphilis 8 weeks sounds very reliable and you would have most likely noticed much clearer symptoms as well. What else was tested? Have you seen a doc? 4 months is enough for everything, so if your symptoms keep bothering you, you can have a full STD panel done. This could be genitally focused anxiety as well, hard to tell.
