yeast infection continues

For the past several months I have had yeast infections on and off. When I get rid of one it comes back in a couple of weeks. Sometimes they only last a day or two, then it goes away and 2 weeks later it is back. It does not itch all the time sometime it just burns. The area down there gets really chapped so to speak. I dont know what to do. I have used over the counter treatments but they do not keep them away. I started researching online and people want to charge you an arm and leg for a book. I don't want that. I would love some advice that I can do at home without hurting my pocket book. Please someone help. I wear cotton panties. I don't use tampon or panty liners. I only use pads when it is my time of the month. I urinate before and after sex. I'm lost and I am sick and tired of the discomfort. I have painful intercourse with cramping at any time. Is there something esle going on. I have been married to my husband for 4 years and there is no out side relationships. So I can rule that factor out. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Diflucan works well for me, and many others.  Give it a try.

Thank both of you for your advice. I will try a prescription and see if that works or not. Do you think diflucan will work well or do I need to get something stronger?

Many yeast infections are now resistant to the over the counter treatments, and maybe you need to get a prescription treatment, and it wouldn't hurt for your husband to, as well.  You could be passing it back and forth.

If your doctor is just telling you to use OTC stuff, you might find another doctor.

That is just it I have. I had my baby 19 months ago. I have seen my obgyn in October with problems and just went and seen him not even a month ago for the discomfort and pain that I am having. I had an ultrasound done that showed nothing and he also did a urine culture and my yearly exam and it all came back fine. At that time I did not have a yeast infection. I have told him about the constant yeast infection and he tells me how to treat it over the counter. I don't know if he is just not taking me serious or what. Everytime I see him I tell him and he doesn't really say anything. At one point I was on birthcontrol and asked him about the pill being the cause and he didn't seem to think so. I have chose not to be on the pill but yet I'm still getting them. Maybe it has to do with a other problem that is not in his field of practice. I have no clue. I'm so aggvated/
