4 weeks now a red bump

I had sex with a female coworker that have known for several years about 4 1/2 weeks ago.  We used a condom but it came off.  3 days afterwards I developed several red bumps on my legs and pubic area not on penis and all were widely spread out that my GP said were infected hair folicals.  I also developed a very red penis tip that itched /kinda burned when it touched clothing but no burning while urinating.  The red tip has persisted through oral meds for yeast, trich, clamidia and Ghono until last week when my GP gave me a steriod and fungicide cream.  4 days ago I found red bump on the bottom of my shaft where the condom would end.  I also have had groin pain on both sides.  The red bump has reduced in size and has scabed over without a ulcer stage and no pain at any given time in the 4 days time.  I shave but have not for a week now.  I was tested for Herpes at first visit with GP and was negative. Co-worked says she has never had any symptoms but has never been tested either. What do you make of this, anything to be worried about or am I just being paranoid.

My guess is you do not have anything sexually transmitted at all--that the onset was merely coincidental with the sexual exposure you describe.  The distribution of lesions indeed is most suggestive of folliculitis (hair follicle infection).  Conceivably you have molluscum contagiosum, which can be sexually acquired, but that condition takes several weeks to show up, not 3 days.

So speak to your GP about the possibility of molluscum--and in any case, follow his or her advice about further evaluation or treatment.  Aside from molluscum, you can be 100% you don't have an STD, or anything else that will ever harm your health or that of a future sex partner.

Final comment, in relation to "am I just being paranoid":  When a person suggests that his or her own symptoms have a psychological origin, s/he probably is almost always right.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

To: Forum M.D. HHH,
I havn't had sex for the last year, but have had reoccuring red painful sores that come up on my penus with any kind of sexual contact. About 6 weeks after starting to have sex with this woman I had a painful spot come up from rough sex that seemed to get infected and almost looked like a staff infection, but Dr. gave me a steroid and antibiotic that seemed to get rid of it.  I didn't have sex again after I experienced this, but about 6 to 8 weeks later I had a few very small red sores come up that were quite sesitive to the touch.  The very tip of my penus is red and all the sores are on the head area of the penus.  very few actually on hte shaft, and nothing inside.  it does not hurt to urinate, though sometimes it is difficult.  I feel likt the difficulty is because of the 110 mg. of Methedone that I take each day for my bad back. Please let me know what you think.
