6 months -still it hurts

by It sure hurts, Feb 05, 2006 12:00AM
Last June/July I had protected sex with a woman and she used her mouth on me. (I was was drunk and she jumped me... I was in Hong Kong).

After a couple of days I had a tingling sensation in my penis. A week later I went to the doctor and was prescribed a 3 course antibiotic incl Cipro etc. (Metro something was incl).

The symptoms got way way way worse. I was in absolute pain.

After 3 months I went back to the doctor again and got tests for clymidia, syphills and a general swap. Everything came back clear. I was still thinking I had Herp 2 so I just said flag it (My doc said I didn't have HV2 by visual and recommended that I go to a specialist).

Could the fact that I drank loads of alcohol and didn't realise initially that a high dairy product intake would send me to the toilet fast than any 100 meter sprinter?

Anyway, Its over six months now and the meatus still is inflamed (just around the outlet tip and down the where the foreskin attaches to the head, and there is some discomfort down the ureathra). Its with me every day... its taken over my life.

I have now met another woman and this could become a huge problem really. I really don't want to pass on anything.

Does anyone have any suggestion what could be wrong?

Is it possible to have a parasite? or could HSV2 just cause localised constant pain (with no outbreaks for 6 months?). Or could have the antibiotics not worked and the general swab fail? (I had a pee easily within three hours before the swab.. the doctor never mentioned that it could affect any general swab).

I can categorically say that it smells different down there.. never like it used to. Not pronounced.. but enough to notice.

What about antibiotics? Can I go back and ask for something else? I don't even know what to say anymore.. give me a higher dose and for 3 months???

Could I have some hidden virus that causes specific localised and long term discomfort?

This has completely taken over my life... I even am beginning to wonder if this could now affect my fertility.

I know now that antibiotic usage is so high in SE Asia that really the traditional antibiotics might not be of any use..

Also, is it possible to get like a strep type infection in your penis? I had a sore throat for months and only got rid of it a month ago... could it have been connected? I did obviously kiss etc.

Should I go to my doctor again and get a 3 month antibiotic supply at the max dosage and take the max anti virals at the same time? I really don't see what any urologist could say in addition to what I know and have researched? Other than sticking his fingers up my bum.. which I am far from keen on. I really don't think I have anything fungal going on to be honest.

Dunno... I'm lost. And I don't know what I can say to this woman as the question will arise..

I'm lost in cyber space... help!!

I wish I could help, but your symptoms do not particularly suggest any known STD, and no research (and no STD specialists' personal experiences with their many patients) suggests there is an undiscovered STD that would be causing your symptoms, particularly after the antibiotic therapy you have had.  An online service, including this one, is no substitute for care by a personal health care provider.  Some urologists are good, but another option might be an STD or infectious diseases specialist.

In the meantime, just live with your symptoms; they'll probably go away eventually.  Pain or discomfort often persists after an injury or infection has long since healed.  A person with a sprained ankle may still have pain months after the sprain has totally healed.  Same with genital infections.  On top of this, emotion and anxiety can greatly magnify such symptoms.  None of this implies anything dangerous, and millions of people live forever with various unexplained body aches and pains.  Whatever is going on, it is unlikely to harm your fertility or other aspects of your health; and you can be equally sure that you have nothing that could harm a sex partner's health.

Sorry I can't help further.  Best wishes--

itsurehurts,

I have been going through EXACTLY the same symptoms as you.  Everything from the different smell, sore throats, and severe pain, unfortunately I know where you are coming from.  And as far as ruining your life, I feel you there too.  There are several of us that are having similar unexplained symptoms.  A fellow symptom haver started a forum for us to talk about what treatments we have tried and what opinions we have had.  I know it sounds corny, but if your like me you’ve been to doctor after urologist who just tells you your crazy, it might not be such a bad idea.  I know you will be checking this post often (as I have with mine posted a few days prior), so check out this url and shoot me an email.  Good luck.

I think there is a specific issue with an "aggressive bacterial" attack.

I sort of think that the bacteria has an aggressive attack on the lining of the urethra and even when pushed away by antibiotics the damage is such (and in a very soft area) that it never gets a chance to heal properly because of the natural activity associated with "erect" members...lol. (If the bacteria breaks up the skin then it tears easily) Urine that obviously connects with the damaged area is also very problematic.

However, I still have a potential issue with urine leakage (small amounts) irritating parts where it can come into contact for longer periods of time.

I think very slowly it is in remission...but I don't think it will be less than another 6 months till it fads to nothing.
