I (37 year old woman) was experiencing mild itching before having relations with my partner. Now he is experiencing itching also, along with abnormal penile discharge that looks like yogurt, which then gets caught in the foreskin, dries, and makes him itchy and uncomfortable. He is not experiencing any other symptoms, such as joint pain, blistering, or pain during urination. My first guess was that I had a yeast infection which was passed on to him during sex. However, home remedies for yeast infection (we tried garlic cloves and organic coconut oil) weren't helping him, so the next day, we both began taking doxycycline 100 mg, two times per day. My itching seems to have gone for the most part, but he is still experiencing discharge, though not as much. We are in day 4 of the antibiotic treatment.
Should I assume my initial suspicion of yeast infection was correct, or might my second suspicion of mild chlamydia be proper? If it is yeast infection, when is it safe to discontinue the antibiotic course?
We live in a developing country (India), and my partner is embarrassed to see a urologist, so being tested for STDs is, unfortunately, simply not an option for us. Please just do the best you can under the circumstances.
Thank you very much!
