Advice on condom breaking and chance of infection

Just recently I slepted with someone when the condom broke, like 3 seconds later I pulled out after it broke. What are the chances of any infection of anything resulting from this condom breaking? I immediately put on a new condom and continued. last couple of days my back of my neck has been feeling sore when i move it around, as well as my upper legs where my lower buttox meet my thighs. They feel sore when I move around , what can this be? Any advice you can provide will be greatful? Thank you very much

The risk of catching anything with only a few seconds of unprotected sex is very low.  No STD causes neck, leg or back pain (including HIV).  I don't recommend any STD testing unless you develop STD symptoms, such as discharge from the penis, painful urination, genital sores, etc.  But if in doubt, see a health care provider who knows about STDs, such as your local health department STD clinic.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

1)since it broke is there any chance it can lead to pregnancy if i didnt *** yet? i would say i was in her for 5 sec the least but prob the most b4 i pulled out.

There is sperm in the precum as most folks call it - you don't have to ejaculate for pregnancy to occur.  Was your partner utilizing any other sort of birth control or just condoms?

2) can I catch anything even with a condom on if so what?

Condoms don't provide a whole heck of a lot of protection against herpes and genital warts.  Condoms are safer sex, not completely safe sex.

3) can you catch anything by making out with a person or performing oral if so what?

You can contract all sorts of common viruses and bacterial infections from making out.  Kissing is low risk for std transmission except for oral herpes simplex type 1.  It's not considered a std when it's an oral infection.

You can transmit hsv1 to the genital area when you perform oral sex on someone. You can also transmit some other infections like yeast and strep to the genital area which can cause symptoms and require a trip to the doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

www.ashastd.org has terrific info on all std's and how to test for them.

"Sorry for all these questions i just want to put my mind to rest because i have been feeling horrible ever since the condom broke thinking the worst."

Condoms break for everyone now and then - and everyone worries themselves half to death for the next couple of weeks!  Don't assume that the worst had to have happened :)

Hello, Im new to this forum and have found it extremly helpful and calming. Though I still have questions, I would appreciate anyhelp that could be given to me, Thanks in advance. I'm 25 years old and I recently had a one night stand with someone I met at pub. I used a condom during intercourse, but it broke. I immediatly stopped because I heard the condom snap. I pulled the condom off and whipped myself off. I did not proceed to finish intercourse, due to the fact I only had 1 condom. I have always worried about STD's and considered myself cautious, but I got caught up in the moment. (My Mistake.) Before intercourse I asked my partner if she was clean, three to four times, just to be sure. She said she was not infected with any STD. She is a nurse, so I believe she has been recently tested for HIV or any other STD. After the condom broke we proceeded to finish with four play. No oral contact. During her ectasy she grabbed my male organ very hard and pulled on it very hard. It hurt alot. The next day I had a burning feeling at the tip of my penis, but it didn't burn or itch when I urinated. It actually felt better while I was urinating. For about a week I had pain in my groin area and little red spots on the head of my penis. I believe the redness was from blood pushing up into my pours. No blood actually passed the surface though. After about a week they went away. Since then I have been checking myself daily for lesions, bumps, or anything out of the ordinary. It has been exactly 17 days since the encounter. Last week my lymph nodes in my groin began to swell rapidly causing minor irritaion in my groin area. The nodes are not red, just swollen. About a day after my nodes swole up my armpit nodes seem to be swelling though not as big as my groin nodes. My groin nodes are about an inch long, but they do not hurt. I was panicing fearing HIV, but I have no symptoms other then swollen nodes. No fever, night sweats, naseau, diarhea, cloudy urine, or any burning at all. I want to go to the doctors, but I have no insurance :( My mom called her doctor and he said to relax and if the nodes didn't go down in 2-3 weeks to come into his office. I don't feel sick at all, just a lil nervous. At first the thought of having an STD overwhelmed me, causing me to think the worst. I have been taking Amoxicillin since yesterday incase of an infection. I honestly believe that when my penis was grabbed so hard. that it may have caused an injury. I feel healthy other then my nodes being swollen. Could u please give me an opinion on this matter, I really am nervous and would like to relax again. Thanks very much and God Bless. (Sorry, if some word are mispelled, or Penis isn't proper to say on the forums.)

I'll bet nobody in the whole world has ever had aching like you describe as the only or predominant symptom of HIV.  Forget about it; or see your health care provider for advice.  It isn't HIV.

That pain could have a variety of causes, but herpes isn't one of them. Just about everyone experiences low back pain at some point in their lives. As for the pain in the back of your legs/feet, it's likely coming from the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back, down the back of your legs to your feet. You could even do a search on sciatica and/or piriformis syndrome, and see if the symptoms resonate for you.

More importantly, I think you need some accurate info about herpes. The previous poster is right - there are some posters and sites clearly designed to whip readers into a hysterical frenzy. I'm not sure why (maybe their own anxieties or maybe moral agenda?), but they're certainly not in short supply. So, in addition to this site, here are some reliable sites to check out:

www.cdc.gov/std
www.ashastd.org
www.westoverheights.com

I also repeat my suggestion of seeing a therapist. Your anxiety over this is pretty extreme and I think totally out of line. Even if you DID have herpes (and I think I read in another post you tested negative?), it's just not that big of a deal. Rather than keep going to doctor after doctor, searching for some STD diagnosis, see a therapist and figure out what's really going on for you.

OK, that's enough. You're obsessing inappropriately about meaningless symptoms.  See a health care provider if you continue to have symptoms that concern you.

If you read enough **** on the net EVERYTHING is a sign of herpes: a headache is a sign of herpes, a sore throat is a sign of herpes, stubbing your big toe is a sign of herpes - I defy anyone to read enough of those hysterical websites and not get worried that they have herpes.

It is going about things backwards to diagnose yourself and then go looking for symptoms

I have read repeatedly that low back pain and pain in the legs/thighs is a sign of Herpes..you're saying that's not true?
I also read that pain at the bottom of a foot can also be a symptom.

The one thing worrying me right now is the soreness/pain i am feeling in the back of my neck. and where my legs meet my buttox, when i apply pressure it hurts. you dont think this has anything to do with any infections right? because I read that HIV early signs can be due to body aches. I really hope not! PLEASE HELP

We all have 7-9 prominent taste buds on back of the tongue, generally ~2 mm in diameter, arranged in a line with a shallow V shape.  You might be seeing those.  It certainly isn't an STD.

well i was the only one using a condom. Then it broke i pulled out after 5 seconds then put on another one and continued. I am worried about the possibily of any infections/precum.

I am expereiencing pain/soreness in the back of my neck when i apply pressure to it. Also the same pain/soreness is in the buttox and my upper legs. When can this be? Am i coming down with something or can it be some sort of cold or something? Im here worrying thinking i was exposed to something.
