Advice

Just a follow up question for the doctor-

since I posted months ago I have seen a dermo 2x.  The first time just a few days after I irritated the area she indicated that it was probably nothing but that it was too irritated to confirm.  The 2nd time, approx 3 weeks later after I tried hard to not touch, scratch, pick or irritate the area, it has healed or subsided considerably and she looked it over and said quite confidently that it was not an STD, just a skin irritation and it was nothing to worry about.

So, fast forward a few months now.  It's still there!  About 3 small skin tags, elevated bumps in the same spot.  No pain or itching and I have left the area alone for a while I do tend to irritate it a lot.

My question is- should I seek a second opinion on this from another dermo or another doctor or do I just completely leave it be and accept that I will perhaps left me with a very slight scar in the area from too much irriation.

I really wouldn't give a darn much about any of this except for the fact that I am just starting a new monogamous relationship and am concerned that the girl may have concerns if she detects it.  Thus far no girl has said a word but you can see it if you look for it quite easily.

Thank you very much for your guidance!

I would seek another opinion.  Has she done any culturing or done a biopsy?

You shouldn't be having sex when you have symptoms.  What if it is an std?  Who cares if she's seen it or not?  She is probably trusting you to say something if there is a risk.

Is it just a scar or is it bumps?  A scar is different.

"Is it just a scar or is it bumps?  A scar is different."

Thanks Jessi.  I saw a dermo 2x and she had no concerns that it was an STD.  It more resembles a very slightly elevated scar that has kind of hardened due to frequent irritation.  The area will bleed and then heal like a scar if I really irritate it which I have done several times, :(   It's probably the about the diameter of a straw.  It definitely feels more like a scar at this point because I haven't let it heal but it's very frustrating.  There are actually 2 similar sized bumps/scars fairly close together but again, both have been heavily irritated on a regular basis.

I know that I need to just leave the entire area alone for weeks but that has been difficult.  In addition to that what would you recommend?  Again, I've seen numerous qualified clinicians who don't express any concern.

Thanks for your help!

Leaving it alone is all I would recommend, and its really important that you do that.  You could have bacteria on your hands and cause a secondary infection, and trust me, you do not want that.

Numerous clinicians have agreed that this is nothing to be concerned about.  Keep it that way, and don't keep playing with it.   I've had a staph infection in the genital area, and it causes big bad sores.  They hurt, and treatment involves things like lancing, draining and packing.  You SO don't want that, trust me.
