Any input please!!!!!!

It started with me... inguinal swelling, 7 days after exposure. Then my girlfriend got it too 6 days after contact with me. No other lymph is swollen.. Got tested for Chlamydia/Gonnerhea which came back negative..

Questions:

1. Can Contagious Bacteria cause swollen inguinal swelling other than STDs?

2. What else could this be? It must be contagious, (we both got it) she got a cold (sore through) around same time,  I got the flu.

p.s. inguinal swelling has persisted for a week and a half now.

You are 'Seriously' awesome!

Thank you for every response you have given me. Even though everything isn't cleared up yet, I think the worst is behind me. (which in this case is the unknowing/anxiety part)

Thanks again.... I really mean it.

Congrats, and I agree - HIV is not a concern here.  Test again in a couple of months if you want conclusive tests for everything, but its not a concern.

Cool thanks..

By the way. Syph/Hep C came back Negative (Whoohoo)

So now I have had a FULL check... all Negative (but the HIV wouldn't have shown
that early I guess) However, I think I am 'Low Risk' for that.

I don't know that what you have is contagious, but a prostate exam can tell whether or not its inflamed, and an inflamed prostate can cause some of your symptoms.

Its not likely to be, but its the next step in the process of figuring out what you have.

You should have them culture your urine and see what grows.  Also have a prostate exam done.

It wouldn't like you think it would at all.  Many healthcare professionals have HIV, one of the heps, etc.

Thank you so much,

I am really nervous that it is something else (i am in BSN school) and, if I were to have Hep C or AIDS, I think that would really hinder my career.

I'd rule CMV out, and go with adenovirus.  CMV is something many of us get as kids and have antibodies for - not always, but many of us.

The nodes would be swollen at the site of infection, so its possible this is what it is.  If it is, you just have to let it run its course.  There isn't a whole lot known about the incidence of this, but personally I think adenovirus spread sexually is far more common than we might think.

Cytomegalovirus  <-----What about this? I guess what I am concerned about is the persistant swollen inguinal lymph.. (week and a half - 2 weeks)

By the way good call on the Adenovirus (just researching it) it does increase lymph nodes, can cause colds/stomach flu like symptoms and can be transmitted sexually. I wonder if it does transmit sexually if thats the lymph nodes that it infects. (I am guessing so) Must research more.

Thank you so so so much for getting back to me!

I tested yesterday for rapid HIV tested, and it came back negative. Also, while I was at it I  tested for Hep C, and Syph. Which I will find out in a couple days. At another physicians office I had them do a STI vs UTI test. Which, came back all normal (bacteria levels normal) and everything (which is which is what the Doc said.)

Thank you again for the input!!! seriously I appreciate it sooooooooooo much.

Have you been tested for anything else?  White blood cells in your urine?  Was she tested for yeast, bacterial vaginosis, group b strep?

I'd also wonder if you all have shared a virus like adenovirus.

Correction: She didn't get a cold sore (I guess my post may suggest that) but a cold about  8 days ago.  (before inguinal lymph swelling)
