Augmentin, STDs, and testing

I'm a male, possibly exposed from receiving unprotected oral a few days before a serious upper respiratory infection. Mostly worried due to ache/pain on tip of penis. Am currently on Augmentin 875mg/125mg (Amoxicillin Clavulanate) twice a day for 10 days.

Questions:
1) although not preferred, will the Augmentin regimen clear me of anything?
2) how soon could I be accurately tested for STD's?

Hi,
I'm really curious to hear what happened with Worried4info. I'm going thru the same thing at the moment and am at a loss. Was about to start Augmenten as well. Any resolution?

Changes in urine stream are typically the result of prostate inflammation.  You should talk to your doctor about that.  He can examine your prostate even while you are on meds.

Thanks Aj.

I'll stick with the Augmentin, but really think something's wrong beyond the URI.

Urethra opening at end of penis has been hurting pretty constantly, but not during urination. No visual clues of inflammation, but it's been pretty uncomfortable. Urination has been more frequent, longer with a slower stream.

It might.

The only things you might get are gonorrhea, syphilis, NGU, and genital herpes type 1.

You can test for gonorrhea and NGU usually at a week post exposure, and syphilis at 6 weeks.

However, since you are on augmentin, you need to wait 2 weeks after your last pill, and then test.

Your risks are low for this, so please don't think of stopping the augmentin to be able to test - curing the URI is much more important right now.
