What i would like to know is if avelox is a antibiotic that you can take for chlamydia or gono. I was diagnosed with chlamydia and was given 4 zithro 500mg a piece and a 750mg levoquin it has been three days and there is still a discharge and some itching when can I expect this to subside and does avelox and zithro. or levo, interact with each other.

You were given double the usual doses of both azithromycin (Zithromax) and levofloxacin (Levaquin) and you can be sure your chlamydia will be cured.  It often takes 5-7 days for symptoms to clear up.  Moxifloxacin (Avelox) is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic very similar to levofloxacin; adding it will make no difference.  Just hang in there and contact your doc if your symptoms actually worsen, or they still are present a week after treatment.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
